UBC Film Production Program’s 40th Anniversary – The Big Picture

UBC Bookstore, in partnership with UBC’s Film Production Program, will be hosting the Program’s 40th anniversary films on campus during Celebrate Learning Week, all week at the Bookstore, as well as a special lunchtime screening for Faculty and Staff at the Beaty Theatre.

Larger Than Life Animation

The Bookstore will provide an interactive, engaging experience using larger than life ‘learning’ characters for student, staff and faculty to take their photos with, both outside and inside the store. The photos can be used to create cards or to share with friends and family. The characters have been created by a UBC student.

Learning Café

Arts ISIT will feature a unique technology display at the Learning Café, where it will showcase the best, the hottest, and the newest equipment to use in the classroom and beyond.

Canadian Soil Web Collaborative

The BC Soil Web Collaborative is a suite of knowledge-rich, accessible, shareable online learning resources for the study of soil science and the creation of a distributed community of practice in soil science. These online resources provide information on basic soil science principles, illustrate soil formation processes, demonstrate the identification and classification of soils and illustrate land-use impacts on soil quality. One recently completed resource examines the glacial origins of BC’s soil landscapes and parent materials. The Collaborative supports a distributed community of practice in soil science that involves students, professors, research scientists and natural resource professionals in such diverse areas as forestry, agriculture and urban land-use planning. BC Soil Web Collaborative represents a groundbreaking innovation in communication among not just soil scientists in BC but also in North America.
