Description:
This presentation will give participants an opportunity to explore the braille code, developed over 150 years ago by a young boy in Paris, France. A brief history of braille reading and writing will be provided along with an introduction to the braille alphabet and numbers. By the end of the hour, participants will be able to de-code alphabetic braille.

Presenters:

Dr. Cay Holbrook is an associate professor in the special education concentration of blindness and visual impairment in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology and Special Education. Her research focus is on promoting literacy skills for students with visual impairments.

Dr. Kim Zebehazy is an assistant professor in the special education concentration of blindness and visual impairment in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology and Special Education. Her research focus is on problem-solving and critical thinking skills of students with visual impairments.
