In this presentation we will consider some ways in which educators and institutions can embrace and support meaningful change that serves our core mission to widen equitable access, empower learners, cultivate critical consciousness, and lead societal transformation.

Learning in a Time of Abundance

Our education systems were designed to solve the problem of information scarcity. We collected information in books, created artifacts like essays to prove that we knew how to find and handle that information and our schools were often the only places where that information could be found. The information technologies of the last 30 years have changed all of that. Information is now more abundant than ever before. Learners can access information with little or not effort. At the same time, the world is more complex and uncertain. What does this mean for post-secondary education?
