Shaping Our Future

UBC is hosting the 12th Annual Celebrate Learning Week online from May 17 – 23, 2021. For the first time, the Provost and Vice-President Academic from UBCV and UBCO will collaboratively present this week-long initiative that showcases teaching and learning at UBC through open lectures, poster sessions, workshops and more.

UBC faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate in Celebrate Learning Week by coordinating and/or attending events.

We invite contributions that demonstrate innovation in online, blended or other teaching practices; student experiences; equity, diversity and inclusion; open educational resources and wellbeing. Celebrate Learning Week serves as a forum for members of the teaching and learning community to collaborate, network and engage in knowledge exchange.

Submission Requirements:

  • Primary contact information (name, department, role, email address, Twitter handle)
  • Session title, date, time, description and connection to CLW theme
  • Speaker/Presenter/Panelist bios (if applicable)
  • Registration information and/or webinar link (free, contact info, URL)
  • Target audience (faculty, staff, students, general public)
  • Open to general public (yes/no)
  • Image/Poster (if applicable)
  • URL/Website
  • Recording and sharing learning materials permissions

Session Format Suggestions (all CLW sessions will be held online):

  • Interactive Workshop (50-80 minutes) – offer CLW attendees the opportunity to explore a topic in depth with their peers and to translate their learning into their respective teaching contexts.
  • Panel Presentation and Discussion (50-80 minutes) – provide a forum of public exchange of ideas, giving experts and CLW attendees the opportunity to discuss a particular topic collaboratively.
  • Virtual Poster Session – host an interactive poster session where CLW attendees can move from poster to poster, chatting with presenters, exchanging ideas and suggestions.
  • Other – host an informal chat or discussion.

Accessibility: CLW sessions strive to be accessible. If your session participants have a disability or ongoing medical condition, we recommend they register with the UBC Centre for Accessibility to get academic accommodations and other supports (e.g. captioning and sign language interpreting).

Please note: Those participating in CLW by hosting an online event between May 17 – 23, 2021 will be responsible for coordinating all online event logistics for their events. This includes registration, online facilitation, technical support, etc. Should you require additional training or consultation in any of these areas, please contact CLW marketing templates will be provided.
