Time & Date: 7:30 PM, Thursday, October 29 – Saturday, November 7, 2009

Location: Telus Studio Theatre, Chan Centre

Description: Opens October 29th and runs through November 7th, 2009. Presented by the UBC Department of Theatre and Film in co-production with Yorick Theatre, this is a new adaptation by UBC Professor Emeritus Errol Durbach, an Ibsen scholar whose award-winning adaptations of Ibsen plays over recent years have been critical hits. The play will feature a combination of both professional and Bachelor of Fine Arts candidates in acting and design.

Synopsis: A visitor from the past re-enters the life of Halvard Solness – a young woman who returns to claim the sexual promise made to her by Solness when she was thirteen. What she finds on her return is a burned out, guilt-ridden man at the end of what he thinks is a wasted career. Can he give her what she wants? And does she give him a new life or destroy him utterly? Ibsen leaves the answers open in this powerful psychological drama.
