Faculty Culture and Meaning Making: Challenges and Opportunities for the New Global Century

Name: Faculty Culture and Meaning Making: Challenges and Opportunities for the New Global Century

Time & Date: 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM, Tuesday, October 27, 2009

Location: Golden Jubilee Room (4th Floor), Irving K. Barber Learning Centre

Description: Dr. Kevin Kecskes, Associate Vice Provost of Engagement at Portland State University will talk about faculty culture and faculty health and explore some of the forces that seem to get in the way of long-term faculty success. How might faculty turn apparent 21st century challenges into opportunities? How can faculty members address aspects of faculty culture to better enable themselves and their colleagues to live healthy, successful lives?

As part of Healthy UBC Programs, Health Promotion Programs will be hosting Dr. Kecskes’ address, which will be followed by a reception. Join us in looking closer at how culture impacts faculty members’ abilities to choose healthy behaviours.

Registration will be available through the Health, Safety & Environment website at http://www.hse.ubc.ca/healthpromotion/healthyubc.html. Both faculty and staff are welcome to register.
