Name: What is all the H”IPE” about: How do we Deal with Interprofessional Education?!

Time & Date: Monday, October 25, 2010 12:00PM – 2:00PM

Location: Social Lounge, St. John’s College, 2111 Lower Mall, UBC Point Grey

Description:
The Joint Commission of Pharmacy Practitioners (JCPP*) vision for pharmacy practice asserts that pharmacists will be recognized as the members of the healthcare team who will assume responsibility for optimizing patients’ medication therapy outcomes. This laudable aim has several critical prerequisites:

a) the development of a professional identity appropriate for this role;
b) acceptance of this role by other members of the healthcare team as well as by patients;
c) the existence of an integrated system of care that is economically sustainable

Since these prerequisites are rare, appropriate interprofessional initiatives must bring them into being. The presentation will explore the issues and progress that has been made to date.

*The JCPP was established to serve as a discussion forum for the CEOs and elected presidents of all major US national pharmacy practitioner organizations.

This is a FREE event open to UBC Faculty, Staff, Students and the general public.
Space is limited. Please RSVP to Sharon Brown at shbrown@interchange.ubc.ca by October 15, 2010.
