In May of this year, UBC’s Film Production Program and its 350 alumni celebrated the program’s 40th anniversary with The Big Picture, a four day series of events including public screenings, downtown at Pacific Cinematique. Proceeds went to a new $30,000 Film Production Scholarship. Films shown in May included: Mina Shum’s ‘Double Happiness’, Gwen Haworth’s ‘She’s a Boy I Knew’ and Bruce Sweeney’s ‘Betty and Vera Go Lawn Bowling’ and in partnership with UBC Bookstore, some or all of these will be screened again on campus.
